Craftsman Front Porch Addition

It's hard to believe now, but this house was built in 1942 as a post-war ranch of only 900sf. With 70 years' worth of additions by the same family, the house was raised and added on to at least 4 times. What was lacking in the end was a new Front Porch and overall curb appeal. We solved that problem with a stately Craftsman style front porch with stone base and tapered columns. To maximize seating and swinging space on the porch itself, and to include more cover for the stairs from winter weather, the stairs were pushed forward and rotated toward the driveway rather than the street. Additional windows were added to the Bedrooms above the Porch, and a small cantilevered Entry / Mudroom Addition was added to the left of the relocated front door. The entire house was resided in pale green-gray siding with slightly darker shingles in the gables and white trim throughout.
