Mudroom & Interior Reorganization

This tight triangular corner lot only limited a Mudroom addition of 132sf, but that was plenty of space to begin the total reconfiguration and reorganization of the existing Mudroom, Kitchen, Dining, Breakfast, and Family rooms.

The new Mudroom with gorgeous slate floors, hooks and cubbies, a secondary refrigerator, and a stunning hammered copper sink serves as the perfect "drop zone" transition from the Garage and back yard to the Kitchen - the hub of the home. RElocating the Mudroom into the new Addition allowed for the conversion of the previous mudroom into a large walk-in Pantry, reorganization of the Kitchen, and installation of a large island. The Owners didn't want to completely abandon a formal Dining room but needed more functional space, so defined the room with glass wall and sliding doors to create a useful Homework Zone / Home Office that can easily be reconfigured for a more formal space. We removed the enclosure for the Basement Stair to better incorporate the living space below with the hub of the house on the first floor. Similarly, upstairs, the landing at the top of the stairs was widened for a gathering space to access the new 2nd floor Laundry - completely with 12' of Closets, additional Broom Closet, sink, upper and lower cabinetry, and windows on 2 sides. The completely reconfigured Owners Bedroom Suite is also accessed from the new hall. Tray ceilings were modified to match the new space, and a large walk-in closet with glass barn doors was added to the dressing area - maintaining a lovely window overlooking the back yard. The new en Suite bath includes ample vanity and storage space, a full linen closet, a make-up vanity table, and a custom shower with a hand-picked river rock base and accent finish.
