Island inspiration

This 1990s brick home had decent square footage and a massive front yard, but no way to enjoy it.  Each room needed an update, so the entire house was renovated and remodeled, and an addition was put on over the existing garage to create a symmetrical front.  The old brown brick was painted a distressed white.  

The 500sf 2nd floor addition includes 2 new bedrooms for their teen children, and the 12'x30' front porch lanai with standing-seam metal roof is a nod to the homeowners' love for the Islands.  Each room is beautifully appointed with large windows, wood floors, white walls, white beadboard ceilings, glass doors and knobs, and interior wood details reminiscent of Hawaiian plantation architecture.  

The kitchen was remodeled to increase width and flow, and a new laundry / mudroom was added in the back of the existing garage.  The master bath was completely remodeled.  Every room is filled with books, and shelves, many made by the homeowner.

Island Inspiration

Modern Farmhouse Homestead

This contemporary farmhouse was originally a 1970 Cape Cod with several hodge-podge additions as well as the soaring 1985 Great Room addition. The new open concept layout of this Legacy Home includes the completely remodeled Great Room, 4-beds, 3-baths, home office and library, spacious dining room, a chef's kitchen with large walk-in pantry, mudroom with dog-wash shower, and a massive wrap-around porch and deck overlooking their stunning acreage. The property includes 6-car garage, working barn, outbuildings, pond with waterfall and bridge, an enclosed porch with pizza oven, gardens, and a fantastic old-growth-tree-lined drive, creating an idyllic location for this growing family.

Tri-level Transformation

The homeowners of this traditional 1960 tri-level desperately wanted a large family room with vaulted ceiling and fireplace, open kitchen / dining rooms, and a new Owner's Bedroom Suite. By rotating the entry to the existing garage to the front, we created space for a new focal point entry and a large family room addition.  The Owner's Suite above the existing kitchen, living and dining rooms. Stairs were extended to the new level and accented with a series of square windows at the upper level, allowing light to filter down throughout the other levels below. A large trellis-covered deck was added to the side of the home, with access from the kitchen.

Historic Farmhouse Addition & Renovation

This 1891 Historic Farmhouse had several previous poorly-executed additions that no longer met the needs of the homeowners.  The previous additions were demolished entirely, with new work expanding to a slightly larger footprint behind the house, as well as the space between the house and existing Garage.

New 1st floor spaces include Mudroom, expanded Kitchen, Pantry, Hall Bath, and Family Room. New 2nd floor addition includes an Owners Bed Suite, Hall Bath and Laundry. A lovely attic Home Office and expansive Playroom over the Garage round out the new work.  We are proud of this total transformation for living spaces for the family while maintaining the original home entirely and preserving the original character, charm, and Hammerschmidt brick (which was exposed and highlighted in several parts of the home) of the historically-designated home. 

Faithful Farmhouse Addition

This 1909 historic Farmhouse was beautiful, but typical of the age was a series of small, separate rooms that no longer met the needs of this growing family. A tasteful addition off the side of the house, set back from the street and front elevation wrapped the corner with a large addition on the back of the home.  A detached garage with Storage above was added at the back of the lot. Historic details, trim, custom built-ins, and all the charm of the original home were matched and replicated in the addition, making it a seamless transition from the old to new.

The expansion allowed for the reorganization and redesign of the Kitchen with new large Breakfast nook with expansive windows, a Family room, and a Mudroom with stairs down to the new deeper basement. Upstairs, 2 new Bedrooms with Jack-and-Jill bath were added, as well as a spacious Owners Bedroom with large walk-in Closet and en suite Bath.  Existing front Bedrooms and shared Hall Bath were updated as well.

Picturesque Princess Anne

2-story addition to this historic 1894 Princess Anne Victorian. Family room, new full Bath, relocated Half Bath, expanded Kitchen and Dining Room, with Laundry, Master Suite with Closet and Bath above. Wrap-around porch with gazebo.

French Creole Expansion

Existing brick ranch, total gut of first floor with second floor addition on corner lot with tight setback restrictions.  Relocated front door, new southern plantation style porch and French doors.

Midcentury Prairie Expansion

The homeowner had previously updated their mid-century home to match their Prairie-style preferences - completing the Kitchen, Living and DIning Rooms.  This project included a complete redesign of the Bedroom wing, including Master Bedroom Suite, guest Bedrooms, and 3 Baths; as well as the Office/Den and Dining Room, all to meld the mid-century exterior with expansive windows and a new Prairie-influenced interior.  Large windows (existing and new to match ) let in ample daylight and views to their expansive gardens.

European Cape Cod Addition

The back of this 1920s brick and siding Cape Cod gets a compact addition to create a new Family room, open Kitchen, Covered Entry, and Master Bedroom Suite above.  European-styling of the interior was a consideration throughout the design process, as well as with the materials and finishes.  The project includes all cabinetry, built-ins, shelving and trim work (even down to the towel bars!) custom made on site by the home owner.
